What is a Pregnancy Harmony Ball?

For Centuries Harmony Ball Pendants have been worn as necklaces have been used in various cultures by pregnant women. It is for this reason harmony balls are often called pregnancy harmony ball pendants.

Pregnancy Harmony Balls are often worn for a period of time after the birth of the baby and then the  mother will often shorten the necklace so that the ball pendant sits  between her throat and her breasts so that it can be played with by the child whilst breast feeding.  It is said soothing sound of the pregnancy harmony ball is remembered by the baby and it soothes and calms the baby after the birth.

In some cases the pregnancy harmony ball pendant is passed on from mother to daughter and becomes a treasured family gift to hand  on for generation to generation.

Harmony ball pendants can be worn with a long chain or a long leather cord.  They can also be worn inside or outside of your clothing.  It is the unborn child that needs to hear the chime so it is completely up to you how you wear your harmony chime ball.

Pregnant women in Mexico have traditionally worn these harmony balls when pregnant.

A Harmony Ball typically is made from sterling silver and contains a small bell like item that emits very slight but audible chime when you move.

The pregnancy harmony balls are generally worn on very long necklace chains or cords so that the harmony ball itself rests on the large baby filled belly of the pregnant woman. It is said that from about 18 to 20 weeks into the pregnancy that the unborn baby starts to hear and the soft chime sounds coming from the harmony ball have a calming affect on the unborn baby, and can even have calming benefits for the mother to be.

Harmony Ball pendants are sometimes called different names in different countries and cultures.  Names like Mexican Bolas, Chime Ball, Chime Pendant, Bali Harmony Balls and or just Pregnancy Balls are commonly referred to around the world.

Sizes can vary with some harmony balls being tiny pendants, no more than approximately  10mm in diameter and can be as large as you might want it to be ..  however the typical size of a harmony ball pendant is about 16-25 mm diameter.   Suitable length cord or chain would be 90cm  to  110 cm in length so that it sits nicely on the pregnant belly.

Harmony Balls do not necessarily need to be made from sterling silver however it is usually the choice for most woman.
